Chapter 70. Echoes of Regret

Now, as I lay on the cold, hard floor with a heavy heart, I couldn't help but blame myself for everything that happened.

I should have known this would happen. I had indulged Duncan way too much ever since he was a kid.

My mind took me back to the childhood days of Ducan and Isabel.

“Father, Duncan took my toy again! The new one you just got me!”

Little Isabel rushed towards me in tears and I sighed softly, my eyes briefly staring ahead to look at Duncan who was holding the toy Isabel spoke of, in his hands.

I looked down at Isabel. “Don't cry, my darling, I will get you a new toy, okay?” My hand moved to smoothen her hair.

She shook her head strongly in disapproval. “No father, he is just going to take my toy again.”

And she had been right. I got her a new toy and he took it and it kept going on like that. I failed to caution his habit back then thinking he was only being childish but his covetousne
