Chapter 76. A Very Welcome Intruder
Issahil's POV
Branches snapped and leaves rustled as I plunged deeper into the forest on all fours.
My breath came out in ragged gasps as I ran blindly, the forest a blur around me, my thoughts a torrent of emotion.
I had no idea where I was running to or why I was running…only that I was overwhelmed.
My heart was in shambles. The image of my son, Erlind kept popping in my head. His giggles. His touch. His warmth.
How could they suggest such a thing? What kind of a mother am I if I can't save my son? But what kind of monster would I be if I killed an innocent?
Was I making the right move by not accepting to go along with the ritual? My son…he could die…But the thought of being a part of taking a life repulsed me to the core.
No. I couldn't do it. I wouldn’t.
Just then, I heard a low growl behind me and turned to see Alpha Matthias running after me. He was on all fours but was still in his human form.
