Chapter 30

Mady’s Pov:

I was cooking when I heard a soft knock on the door. I wondered who it was. It was definitely either of my two chaotic friends because they never knocked my door softly; they would break it down. I wiped the dots of sweat from my forehead with a small rag. The heat from the fire makes me very hot. I walked to the door and opened it. Oh, Mo. I was genuinely glad to see him, and my heart leaped with excitement. I felt a smile forming from the corners of my lips and quickly frowned. I am not supposed to be happy with him after what he did. He greeted me with the warmest smile ever, and the heat transported from his face to my heart, almost melting my anger. I wanted to smile back at him, hold him in my arms, and usher him into my room, but my pride did not let me do that.

I asked him what he was doing here, and the confusion on his face made me regret instantly. Yet, that stubborn part of me was in control now and did not listen to my heart’s pleas. It furthermo
