Chapter 9. Twins?!

Shimma’s POV

Mattias stepped into the room first, holding my hand as I followed. I could feel the pressure of his grip; he was nervous.

I would have said I was too, but I wasn’t just nervous—I was scared. Angry. Guilty.

I glanced over at Lucas. He was already awake, staring up at the ceiling as if he didn’t acknowledge our presence.

“Lucas?” Mattias said, moving closer to him. But Lucas still didn’t look our way.

“What happened back there? Why did you spiral out of control like that? It wasn’t you,” Mattias asked, omitting the fact that the doctor had just told him about Lucas’s drug use. Mattias was such an amazing man.

We stood there, waiting for Lucas to respond, to explain how he felt about his actions. I wanted to know if he had returned to the calm and gentle Lucas I once knew, not the one I had seen yesterday.
