Chapter 70
She looked from the rabbit to him, probably expecting another trick. Instead, he sat back on his haunches and waited. She still didn’t trust him, so she hesitated, touching the game lying before her feet. She then gave him one final glance. When she realized that he showed no intention of playing another trick, she shook her head, lowered it, and then ripped into the rabbit, gulping the warm meat in mouthfuls. Alex walked over and rubbed against her, licking flecks of splattered blood from her muzzle and her neck. She stopped eating long enough to thank him with a nuzzle. When she went back to feeding, he loped into the woods to catch his meal.
She followed him after finishing hers.
