Chapter 29

Clary’s heart doubled its pace and she took a step back. “Dad,” She said in a small voice filled with a fear that she was too familiar with. She wanted to tell him that she did not mess up, but the truth was that she did. 

She did mess up but she was the one that decided to leave, she was not thrown out. 

The preacher was shirtless and had dirty stained trousers on. His hair was longer and his beard was unruly and not taken care of at all. He used to only have a stubble when she had left, but it was now a full beard. 

“Don’t call me, don’t call me that!” The preacher lunged at Clary but missed and fell to the floor. He was too drunk for any good of an aim. “I am not your father, you piece of dirt!” He spat the words at her as he tried to get up from the hardwood floor.
