Chapter 53

When she was dressed, she allowed her hair to flow to her showers and brushed it out. She could not ignore the red bruising appearing on her cheek as she watched her reflection in the mirror when she was brushing her hair. 

Seeing the bruising appearing reminded her of all the times that she was hit over and over by the preacher. It reminded her of all the times that she cried her eyes out until no tears could come out anymore. 

It reminded her of all the times that she cried for help until her voice became hoarse, still not a single soul helping her. 

Clary blinked and a few tears fell from her eyes. She wiped them away and decided to find some makeup to use to cover the bruising that was appearing. 

Again, she did not want any drama. She knew very well that there would be a lot of that if Levi saw the bruising on her cheek and found out that his sister was the cause. Clary did not want that. 

She just wanted to be happy for once.&nbs
