Chapter 96

Once they were in the elevator, Clary could finally breathe. Tony seemed chilled like he had done this before but maybe he was only good at hiding his nerves. 

“Just keep smiling and everything would go fine. All we have to do is make it to the exit and we’re good to go,” Tony encouraged everyone. 

Clary smiled but it was a bit forced. She could not stop the anxiety that was swarming her body. She had never been so nervous. It was like she could feel everything a bit more if that even made sense. 

“It’s show time,” Tony said as the elevator made a ding and slowed down. He proceeded to walk right out and Clary followed, pushing the wheelchair gently. 

They were now on the ground floor and nobody really paid much attention to them. They were heading straight for the exit and when they were only a few feet from making it, somebody’s voice stopped them.
