Chapter 44

Devano sat in front of his laptop in the corner of the waiting room. His face was serious, his fingers dancing over the keyboard. He had collected some evidence, but not enough to ensure Gabriel could be arrested. On the other side, Nicolas stood up while watching Calvin who was drawing in his little book.  

"Devano, do we have enough evidence?" asked Nicolas, his tone anxious yet hopeful.  

Devano sighed, staring at the laptop screen with a tired look. "Not yet. Gabriel is cunning. Even though I have recordings of his conversations with his henchmen, it's still not strong enough in court."  

Nicolas clenched his fists, frustrated. "So, what else do we need? That man almost killed Celine. He can't get away with it."  

"I'm trying to trace the flow of money he used to rent that car. If we can prove that the transaction came from his account, then we have a stronger case," Devano explained.
