Chapter 47

Celine did not respond to Calvin's words. Instead, she just stroked her son's head, trying to avoid further conversation.  

Nico tried to break the ice. "I know it's hard, Celine, but I'm glad you realize. Calvin is really happy."  

Celine let out a long breath. "If I've come to my senses, you can leave now, Nico. Your presence here is no longer necessary."  

Nico nodded. Just as he was about to leave, Calvin stopped Nico. 

"Daddy don't go," Calvin pleaded. 

Nico smiled and stroked Calvin's face. 

"Sorry, son, Daddy has to come back here later. "

"Promise?"

"Yes, son, Daddy promises."

Nico quickly left the room.

At the hospital corridor, Nico walked out of the room with heavy steps. Celine's words were still ringing clearly in his mind. He knew he couldn't force his presence if he didn't want to.
