Chapter 52

Celine watched from a distance, her heart mixed. On the one hand, she still held deep wounds for everything Nico had done in the past. But on the other hand, she couldn't ignore the fact that Calvin needed his father.  

"Celine," Nico's voice broke the silence.  

Celine looked up at him, slightly surprised that Nico was speaking again. "What?"  

"I'll never be able to fix everything overnight," Nico said, his voice low but full of sincerity. "But I'll try. For Calvin's sake. And... maybe for you too, if you'll give me a chance."  

Celine looked down, trying to hide the emotions that began to flood her heart. "I only care about Calvin, Nico. Don't expect too much from me."  

Nico nodded slowly. "I understand. And I won't force anything. But I want you to know that I really want to fix everything, even if it takes a long time."
