Chapter 44. Stefan Is Back II

Stefan’s POV

For a few seconds, she’s all I see. It’s almost as if there is no one else in the room with us, and she looks perfect. She looks ethereal, and all I want to do at this moment is to run to her.

For a few seconds, we make eye contact with each other, and my heart leaps with joy but more in pain. Pain because she looks like she has just seen a ghost. I didn’t know how I would ever face her, but now that I am standing in front of her, I wish I could just crawl inside a hole and stay there forever because the look in her eyes is haunting.

I didn’t even realize that my two brothers were already in front of me, Kol and Reece both wrapping their arms around me in a tight embrace. The elders surround me as they gaze wide-eyed at me, their mouths hanging open. Some of them saying a silent thank you prayer.
