I slowly turned my head to him and asked, "And what the hell makes you think I'm willing to play along?" He tried to kill me with just his eyes. There was not an ounce of kindness to be found in those eyes. His dislike of me was practically written on his face. At least it was mutual.
"The great bonus is that you won't receive our family's heirloom as a wedding ring from me, but rather something I made myself." Since I was blessed with intelligence, I could see why I would receive a ring of my own. Still, I asked, "The beautiful heirloom is made of silver, right?"
"You got that right. Unless you want your finger to fall off at some point because of the material, you should make it easy on yourself."
Oh yes, that could happen with silver. And I trusted the guy to force this piece of jewelry on me.
I nodded and interjected: "I'm a fan of gold rings in general. They have a certain elegance and the classic is always appropriate."
