Just as I was about to open the door, someone knocked. If Aramis was serious about picking me up, he was showing his distrust. The king probably thought he would have to drag me into his office and then force me to sign the piece of paper.
Someone didn't know me very well, because I wouldn't let anyone take away my dignity. I would go through this with my head held high.
I opened the door and as expected, the king was standing there. Before he could say anything, I did. "It's great that you're picking me up. This castle is huge, it's far too easy to get lost. I appreciate your selfless act."
