Dani’s POV
I had suspected something was off, but it wasn’t until Damien himself, in his innocent chatter, gave me the final puzzle piece that everything fell into place.
Sitting at the dining room table, I cleared my throat, the sound reverberating through the room like a thunderclap. Logan looked up from his plate, his sharp blue eyes narrowing as they met mine.
“Something on your mind, Dani?” he asked, his tone casual, but there was an edge to it. Logan always had a way of sensing when something was about to go down.
I hesitated, glancing toward Damien, who was happily munching on a slice of pizza. His small hands were sticky with cheese, his cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk.
