Isabella’s POV

It was like a crack in the facade he had so carefully built, and it made my heart ache. 

He opened his mouth as if to speak but then closed it again, running a hand through his hair in frustration. 

I could see it in his eyes. He didn’t know how to explain it. Whatever it was that was eating at him, it was too much for him to put into words.

“I don’t know what to do anymore, Isabella,” he finally admitted, his voice strained. “I don’t know what to do about Dani, about everything. It’s all just… so complicated.”

His words hit me like a jolt of electricity, and for a moment, I felt my breath catch in my throat. This was it. This was the opportunity I had been waiting for. 

My heart raced, but I forced myself to stay calm, to keep my composure. I couldn’t let him see how excited I was inside. I had to play this carefully.
