Dani’s POV

How could a child, barely seven years old, say something so calculated, so perfectly aligned with Isabella’s narrative?

Like he is a good actor, what the fuck? I must admit this boy is smart and not just smart but good. I'm doing things he is told to do.

My stomach churned as I looked at Damien. He was clutching Isabella’s hand, his small frame trembling as if he were truly upset. 

But it wasn’t the trembling that caught my attention…it was the way his eyes darted nervously to Isabella before he spoke, the way his words felt rehearsed, not genuine.

It hit me like a freight train. She told him to say this.

The realization was both infuriating and terrifying.
