Logan’s POV
“Who was that?” I asked, my voice low but firm.
She turned away, avoiding my gaze. “No one important,” she muttered, her hands shaking as she clutched the phone.
“Don’t lie to me, Isabella,” I said, stepping closer. “Who was that woman, and why was she talking about a child? What child?”
“It’s nothing, Logan,” she said quickly, her tone defensive. “Just the wrong number.”
“A wrong number?” I repeated, disbelief evident in my voice. “A wrong number doesn’t beg for their child to be returned. Who is Damien to her?”
