Isabella’s POV
“If anyone asks you about her, you tell them the truth. That she’s not your mommy. That you don’t know her. Do you understand?” I kept brainwashing the little boy.
He hesitated, looking down at his car. “But... what if she cries again?”
My heart clenched. “Damien, sometimes grown-ups cry when they’re confused. But that doesn’t mean they’re right. You have to trust me, okay? I’m your mommy. I’m the one who loves you and takes care of you. No one else.”
He looked up at me, his little face serious. “Okay, Mommy. I’ll tell them she’s not my mommy.”
“Good boy,” I said, forcing a smile and pulling him into a hug. His small arms wrapped around my neck, and I held him tightly, trying to push down the guilt clawing at my chest.
When I pulled back, I cupped his face in my hands. “Now, you go back to playing, alright? Everything’s going to be fine.”
