Layla’s POV
Her eyes gleamed with something I couldn’t identify…malice, perhaps, or maybe satisfaction.
“It’s not personal,” she said, almost as if she were reassuring herself.
“Not personal?” I repeated, my voice rising in fear and disbelief. “What are you talking about? What are you…”
I never finished my sentence.
The world around me seemed to blur, the rooftop spinning as an overwhelming dizziness overtook me. My legs buckled, and I stumbled, my hands reaching out for something…anything…to steady myself. But there was nothing.
The last thing I saw was the woman’s cold, unflinching gaze as I fell.
The sensation was surreal…weightlessness, a terrifying loss of control. My mind screamed in panic, but my body felt numb, as though I were detached from it entirely. The wind rushed past me, cold and unforgiving, and then... nothing.
Darkness enveloped me, and the world disappeared.
