Layla’s POV
I sighed, letting her go. "You are impossible."
"And you are so in trouble," she teased. "Because I am never letting this go."
I groaned, covering my face again.
This was going to be a long night.
The moment we stepped out of the hospital doors, the cool night air brushed against my skin, bringing a sense of relief.
It wasn’t until now that I realized how stuffy and tense the hospital felt.
Maddie stretched her arms dramatically. "Freedom!" she declared, spinning on her heel. "I swear I was two seconds away from losing my mind in there."
I rolled my eyes but smiled. "You were in there for, what, an hour?"
"An hour of pure suffering, Layla," she shot back, placing a hand over her heart. "And meanwhile, you were out here… giggling over your new boyfriend."
I groaned, already regretting ever telling her anything. "He’s not my boyfriend," I said through gritted teeth.
