Jason’s POV

Little Jason said nothing, his eyes fixed on his lap as he sat rigidly in the chair beside me. I reached over, giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze, but he didn’t look up.

Mrs. Thompson’s expression softened, her gaze lingering on him before she looked back at me. “Transitions can be difficult, especially at his age. But we have wonderful teachers here who are experienced in helping children adjust. I’m confident Jason will feel right at home soon enough.”

I forced a smile, nodding. “I… I appreciate that. He’s just… shy around new people.”

She smiled understandingly. “That’s perfectly normal. We’ll do everything we can to help him feel comfortable.”

She began going over the school’s policies, her voice calm and reassuring as she explained the curriculum, extracurricular activities, and safety protocols.
