Isabella's POV
I felt my breath hitch, but I quickly masked my panic.
"Damien, lower your voice," I said, my tone firm but measured.
He didn’t listen.
"I mean it, Mom," he continued, his expression hard, his jaw tight.
"I’ll go straight to him and tell him everything. I don’t care what you say anymore."
Panic flared in my chest. I moved swiftly, my hand shooting out as I clamped it over his mouth, muffling any further words.
"Shut up," I hissed, my grip tightening as I pulled him further into the room and kicked the door shut behind him. My heart hammered violently against my ribs.
Damien struggled against my hand, his muffled protests vibrating against my palm, but I didn’t let go.
I was tired.
Tired of always having to explain.
Tired of having to apologize.
And now… now he was threatening to ruin everything.
I wasn’t going to let that happen.
