Maddie’s POV

I shook my head, trying to push the paranoia away. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe I was overthinking it.

But the nagging feeling in my gut refused to leave.

Something about that car.

Something about the way it had been parked there for so long, only to suddenly lurch forward at the exact moment Jason had stepped into the open.

I didn't like it.

Not one bit.

I pressed a kiss to the top of Jason’s head, whispering, "Let’s go inside, okay?"

He nodded against my shoulder, and I rose to my feet, my arms still wrapped securely around him.

Even as I walked back toward the apartment, the eerie feeling lingered.

I had a horrible, horrible feeling that this was just the beginning.

I locked the door behind me, my breath still uneven as I carried Little Jason inside. My hands trembled slightly, but I tightened my grip on him, forcing myself to stay calm.
