I stood in front of Layla and Maddie’s apartment, my patience hanging by a thread. 

I had barely gotten any sleep last night, my mind running in circles over the DNA test. 

Dani could keep doubting the results all he wanted, but to me, it was over. Done. The results spoke for themselves.

But still, something inside me itched.

I needed to see Layla.

I needed answers.

I raised my fist and knocked on the door, my jaw tightening as I heard footsteps approaching from inside. A second later, the door swung open, revealing none other than Maddie.
