Chapter 73

Liam's POV

I returned to my house, walking the lonely roads. The patrolling wolves bowed when they noticed I was the one. I noted how some of them seemed slow on their feet. If there was an attack, these wolves would be slow to react.

I gritted my teeth in anger. It seemed that some kind of moment's peace was clouding their survival instinct. This was bad. I needed to set up a training or boot camp of some sort to get these men back into shape.

If they couldn't prove their usefulness as soldiers, they would have to prove their usefulness elsewhere and they wouldn't like the positions I had to offer.

When I returned to the house, it was quiet. My Beta had moved out long since after he got his mate and I had been living in this huge place alone. Only a few maids lived here.

I could hear one now. She emerged from the kitchen with a glass of water and when she saw me, she was startled. "I'm so sorry, sir. I didn't see you there." She apolog
