Chapter 12

My feet ached to the point I could not walk anymore, and I collapsed by a large tree outside the city limits. I had been walking for an entire day, the night sky reminding me how weak I was as it hung over the trees of the woods.

“We are so close,” Vixen said with a gentle tone.

“I have no more strength left in me…” I uttered as I felt my body shift back into my human form. “I am… too tired to move…” I breathed.

Vixen became frantic. “No! You must stay awake!” she yelled at me.

I felt my eyes grow heavy as the sight of her began to fade.

“Just… let me sleep,” I said before I passed out.

I was awoken a while later by a strange sensation. I could feel something slithering up my body before settling by my face. I grunted faintly as I managed to open my eyes and see what was lying on my face.
