Chapter 91. One Thing Less
Germaine's eyes widened as creatures rose from the sand. They were hulking things with the form of humans but the features of beasts. Talons extended from their long distended hands, and their faces were too hideous to behold. They were swathed in shadows and were as many as the sand beneath their feet. Tremors rocked through her as she stood watching them advance toward her.
She willed herself to move but it was as if her feet were stuck. She was frozen. Immovable. She couldn't move to save her life.
I'm going to die.
Her words however died in her throat as they passed her as if she weren't even there. As if she were invincible. They didn't pay her a single glance but she could however, feel the roughness of their skin and the warmth that emanated from them. Hordes and hordes of them passed through her. She noticed they were in different shapes and sizes, some smaller than others but not less vicious-looking.
