The sight of Kanen lying unconscious on the floor sent a serious of panic through me.

My heart raced as I knelt beside him, trying to shake him awake, but there was no response.

His skin was cold to the touch, and his breathing was getting slower. I could feel my hands trembling as I tried to think of what to do next.

This was my worst fear coming true. Kanen’s rare condition—something only I knew about—was taking hold again.
