Rose’s POV

Ever since Jacklin unexpected visit, Kanen had been distant, more withdrawn than I’d seen him in a long time.

His usual strength seemed to be crumbling, and it disturbs me.

I feared that the man I had come to love and trust was fading away, retreating into the darkness of his past.

The thought of him going back to his old self—cold, closed off, unreachable—was almost too much to bear.

I knew I couldn’t handle this on my own. Kanen was pushing me away, and no matter how much I tried to reach him, it was like talking to a wall.

He wouldn’t let me in, wouldn’t share what was going on in his mind, and it left me feeling helpless and frustrated.

I needed help. I needed someone who could understand him, someone who could get through to him when I couldn’t.

That’s when I thought of Joe and Raph. They were his closest friends, the ones who had been with him through thick and thin, the ones who knew him almost as well as I did
