Rose’s POV
After Celine showed me to the little, tattered room where I would sleep for the night, I felt a small wave of relief wash over me.
It wasn’t much—a broken bed with a thin blanket, and the walls were old and cracked—but it was a place to rest.
My legs were tired from walking, and my mind was still swirling with questions about Miraelle. Where could she be?
But even as I lay down just to rest a little, Celine’s words echoed in my head.
“This village can be creepy sometimes,” she had said. I couldn’t shake the unease I felt.
Celine, who had been sitting with me, suddenly stood up as if she remembered something important.
“Stand up, come on,” she said with a small smile. “Come on, let me give you a tour.”
I blinked in surprise, but I slowly stood up, following her outside into the dim lit streets.
The village looked even more worn down in the fading light. Everything felt tired, like the place had given up.
