I stared at the woman for a moment before I nodded, taking the pen, and quickly signed above my name. Then, I slid the paper towards Troy, who was seated beside me. “Your turn…” I said, nudging his shoulder to rouse him, as he appeared to be dozing off while observing me closely.

He let out a deep sigh before signing beside my name and then returning the paper to the woman.

“Congratulations!” the woman exclaimed with a broad grin plastered across her lips. “You are now divorced. Here are your copies…”

I grabbed the copy of the divorce petition and shoved it into my bag. “Thank you…” I murmured, offering the woman a faint smile before pivoting on my heels and stepping out of the room. Troy’s heavy footsteps echoed behind me, and then I felt his cold hand on my forearm.
