I crumpled the paper in my fist. It felt as though a hammer had struck me squarely on the head, and a knife had pierced my heart repeatedly. Reese left without a word to me. She left without hearing my explanation. She left without justifying her actions.
This was how it felt when losing someone significant from your life. It was akin to dying. It was as if my soul had left me. I believed I saw red, but no, there was only emptiness. It wasn’t shrouded in darkness, nor was it a blinding white. It was simply nothing.
I have never been so angry in my entire life that I felt like I could destroy everything in my sight right now. I don’t know if my anger is directed at her, at myself, or at the people around her. All I knew was that I was very, very mad.
I climbed into my car, fired up the engine, and sped off. However, I pulled over a mile from her house because my vision was too blurred to continue driving.
