Chapter 59. Eat Dust
Lilly’s POV
It ended up being a very emotional day for my family and me. We cried and laughed, and I listened to stories, crying some more. Yet, the feeling of having such a loving family was both exciting and terrifying. I was terrified of disappointing them.
What if I am nothing like what they expect me to be? What if I’m not good enough for them and I turn out to be a failure?
Those thoughts swirled in my mind, but deep down, I knew their love was unconditional. I took a deep breath, reminding myself that I was empowered to carve my own path, and perhaps that was enough to ease my fears.
“Are you okay, Lilly?” Mila, my mother, asked.
“I—I’m fine,” I replied, forcing a smile that I knew didn’t reach my eyes. “I’m just a bit overwhelmed.”
“That’s expected,” Jax, my father, said. “Take it slow, kiddo. If everything becomes too much, take a breather…”
