Chapter 62. Instincts
Lilly’s POV
I didn’t wait to see who or what it was. My heart was already racing, and every hair on my back stood up straight, bristling with a warning I couldn’t ignore.
My instincts screamed at me to run—so I did.
Just as I was about to step out of the forest, someone grabbed my hair and yanked me back.
I landed with a soft thud in a pile of leaves, flat on my back. My head throbbed with pain as I blinked away the tears clouding my eyes.
A familiar figure loomed into view, and the distinctive scent I’d been forced to live with for years filled my nostrils.
“Sade…” I muttered, barely audible.
“Who else did you think it would be?” she taunted, her tone sharp. “Your savior? Prince Charming? Not in this lifetime…”
I rolled my eyes at her and pushed myself upright.
Wasn’t she supposed to be cleaning the packhouse corridors?
