Chapter 16. Office Gossip

I left the villa soon after to work that morning. As soon as I arrived at the company with my head held high, I could feel glances on my back. There were whispers as I walked by, probably about yesterday’s incident. Ignoring them, I pressed on toward our floor.

Just as I entered the elevator, I spotted Leo. He looked at me in shock, and I looked back at him.

“What?” I quipped, raising an eyebrow at his incredulous expression.

Leo adjusted his glasses, a habit of his when caught off guard. “It’s just so surprising to see you this early,” he remarked, his tone laced with genuine curiosity.

I couldn’t help but chuckle at his reaction. “You can’t be serious, Leo,” I replied, shaking my head in mock disbelief.

He offered a sheepish grin in response before adding, “Oh, and congratulations, by the way.”
