Chapter 18. The Past Sins

My father was going to be released in a month, and I don’t know how to feel. Should I be happy or sad?

My father was arrested for d***s and armed robbery and was sentenced to twenty years in prison. I was just twelve years old at the time. He had served only ten, which meant he was being released on parole.

Before he went to jail, my parents never had a good relationship. My mother was constantly cheating with several men, and whenever my father found out, it would lead to a fight. They were high school sweethearts, but their love eventually faded out—or rather, my mother ran out of love for him.

My father would do everything to please her, and when his engineering job wasn’t paying the bills well enough, he turned to armed robbery and d***s. For five years, everything was good. I was seven when my father became wealthy, and my mother’s love returned.
