Chapter 41. My Mother’s Lover

I woke up the next morning after what had happened. I picked up my resignation letter from my bedside table. I had given a lot of thought to everything around me.

I was confused about everything, and at the same time, something seemed to make a lot of sense. Is this why Damien refused to accept me, and why he was always so restless and had to settle with a woman like Britney?

I was so lost in thought when I saw the door open and my mother stepped in. I rolled my eyes at heras as she stepped in. Since I found out about her motives, I had less respect for her.

“What is it?” I spat out.

“Watch your tone, girl,” she snapped at me. I rolled my eyes at her as I sank back onto my bed.

“Dress up, family dinner in ten minutes, don't make me come back for you,” she informed me as she pointed her finger at me. I ignored her as she walked to the door and then stopped.

“And you better not act hostile in front of our guest,” she told me as she left. I sighed.
