Chapter 55. Brian’s Anger

I froze as I heard Brian's voice. He never came to my room except the time I had fainted at the engagement party. I was scared out of my mind and afraid of what he would want.

“Come in,” my mother clipped as she sat on the couch and I covered myself with the bed cover.

Brian slipped into the room, his face held high. He looked at my mother who stood up and went to hug him but he frowned at her as he shaked her off him, with a frown on his face.

“Baby, why are you being so cold?” my mother asked in a soft voice and I rolled my eyes but Brian seemed pissed off, for a moment I thought he heard what we were talking about, and my heart was beating with anticipation of what it may be.

“Come in,” Brian commanded as the maid stepped into the room,her head bowed in deference.

 "Show me what I found," Brian demanded, his gaze piercing as he kept his focus on my mother. A maid stepped forward.
