Chapter 32. Where’s She?
KAELAN
We reached the edge of his territory, and I motioned for my warriors to halt. This wasn’t a battle I could afford to lose, and charging in recklessly would only put Everly in more danger.
“Spread out,” I ordered. “Surround the perimeter. Don’t allow anyone to leave the pack or go in without my permission.”
I hastened forward, shifting seamlessly into my wolf form. My senses sharpened, and the faint scent of Everly hit me again. My vision blurred with rage, but I forced myself to focus.
As I crept through the underbrush, I caught sight of a small cabin, dim light flickering through the cracks in the shutters. Her scent was stronger here.
With a low growl, I shifted back into my human form, my claws still extended. My warriors fell into position behind me, silent and ready.
