I felt my stomach tighten with dread. “What about Ollie? Is his condition worse? Rhodes, if something’s happened—”

“It’s not about his medical condition,” Rhodes interrupted. “It’s about his blood type.”

“His blood type?” I repeated, confused. “What about it?”

Rhodes pulled out a medical chart, the same one Lake had filled out three days ago. “Lake told us Ollie was O positive. Like him and Samuel. But during the surgery, when Ollie had a transfusion reaction, we tested him properly. He’s not O positive, Ramon. He’s AB negative.”

The room went silent. I stared at Rhodes, trying to process what he was saying, but the words didn’t make sense.

“So Lake was wrong about the blood type,” I said slowly. “That happens, right? If Ollie was never properly tested—”
