Chapter 23. A Human and a Wolf
“So it’s not true?” I challenged.
“It is true but where did you hear about it?”
I rolled my eyes and glanced out the window at the empty parking lot. He grabbed my chin and brought me back to him.
“It was that snotty friend of yours, wasn’t it? She’s busy ratting off pack secrets.”
“Leave Selma alone! You told me.”
“No I didn’t,” he barked.
“You called me your mate. Twice!”
He slammed his palms against the wheel. “Damn it.”
Silence settled between us.
“Is being my mate so bad?” I asked in a small quiet voice that hurt me inside.
“No, of course not. I didn’t know having a mate would feel this good, Paris. I’m trying to keep you safe. I broke sacred laws by even kissing you.”
