Chapter 36. Leap of Faith
Xavier lay in bed, unable to sleep. The thought in his head barely gave him rest. He could close his eyes, but the images that flashed whenever he closed them weren’t ones he wanted there. They were images of his death at the hands of Mia. That was the last thing he wanted to see, though.
He didn’t know how to deal with his mind. It’s been two weeks since being on the ship. In these weeks, he had seen Mia three times and in those three times; he didn’t speak to her.
She avoided him as well and kept her gaze fixed somewhere else whenever she walked past him or came to a space he occupied. It hurt his heart every single time, but he couldn’t blame her. The bond was no longer there. In the last five days, she had become restricted to the cabin Edward cleared out for her, which was next to his and barely came out.
