Chapter 76. Leaving Silverlake Again
I woke up to the sounds of a deer approaching. I only knew it was deer because I had woken up as soon as I heard a sound and I was now alert. I picked a nearby stick and threw it at the animal and it fled.
I got up and spent the next few minutes scratching myself. Because I had slept on the bare floor I had been literally almost eaten alive by termites and all sorts of insects. I scratched myself so much that I had almost started bleeding.
I drank some water from my bottle and got up. It was time to start moving again. Nanny Lupita had said I shouldn’t spend more than three hours sleeping from the moment I left Silverlake till when I got to green moss. If I did this I should get there in about three days time or less. She said I should remember that people would be chasing me to green moss once I had left and I should not allow her efforts to be wasted by not putting in mine as well.
So I couldn’t stop now. I just couldn’t.
