Chapter 10. A Mate or Not?

Uncle Fergus’s POV.

I didn’t want to be at the office tonight. As tiring as being with Agatha was I knew I couldn’t handle doing any work tonight again. Hosting Alpha Basit was demanding. He was a powerful man, and even my pride couldn’t stop me from admitting.

The trade hadn’t gone as I expected. Basit was a very careful man. He wanted all the details of the business, even down to the information I knew I had to withhold from him.

The dinner had ended with a promise from me to get him the information he needed so we could proceed with the trade.

Until then, everything was on hold.

As I made my way to my room I was tempted to call for Daphne. I needed her tonight.

But I knew I couldn’t, Agatha had told me repeatedly that she needed me to spend the night at the room tonight because there was something ‘important’ she wanted to talk about.

And I was curious to hear what she was so troubled by. I knew it would have something to do with Daphne,
