Chapter 17. I Can Finally Be Able to Live

Daphne’s POV.

I thought I was finally going to be killed. Uncle Fergus’s claws drove deep into my skin, pulling blood with it with every strike. I had begun to close my eyes as I accepted defeat. And just then his weight was lifted from my body.

I got up quickly and saw Elton wrestling him to the ground and forcing him to remain there. In that split second, he turned and shouted at me to go. All the guards were beginning to circle in on me and I knew this was my time.

I looked at Elton one last time and then turned and ran as fast as I could. I pushed the guards that tried to hold me as I passed and then charged away from the arena with every strength I had left. It was already dark in Diamond Crescent.

Just as Elton had told me I followed the road that led into the woods and kept running until I was sure I was no longer in sight to anyone in the pack.
