It had only been a few hours since the Commander left, and Helena was already pacing back and forth in her room. She didn’t know why she was doing this since she agreed with his departure and things in the castle were going well. As long as the other wolves didn’t know about her nature as a Banshee, everything would be fine. And if her son didn’t happen to transform on the Full Moon of his fifteenth birthday, everyone would think that her human genes prevailed over John’s. That would be bad, but not as bad as if they knew she was a Banshee. She tried to push those thoughts away; none of that mattered right now. Her greatest enemy was dead. She walked to the fireplace and sat in a chair, watching the flames and thinking once more.
Nothing could hurt her baby now. Lance was dead, and Chase Castle was a much more guarded fortress now than in the past when the Isle was still unstable, full of Minkovi hunters. They were far away from Crow Island.
