Berton's POV

I rushed into the car and immediately ignited the engine. I was desperate to get to the hospital. I scrolled through and was surprised to see she hadn't called me. Was she absent-minded, or was the network just bad? I had put my phone on flight mode earlier because of the calls I got from work about the Alphas coming to ask about the progress I have made so far.

The calls were interrupting the meal. Thus, it looked disrespectful to have it interrupt a meal, so I had no idea she had been calling for so long. I had to turn off flight mode when I realized she might call me but to actually think she didn't call me even once made me upset.
