Chapter 76. Heat. Part 5

"Zander?" I touched the space next to me and felt that it was empty.

I checked my phone and saw that it was almost midnight. I slept through most of my heat. It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, but I was hornier than I'd ever been.

I wondered if Gabrielle and Cleopatra were alright. 

But why hadn't Zander come to bed?

I arose from the bed and secured my robe around my body. I slipped my feet into my fluffy-bunny slippers and went on the quest to find my mate. I tried mind-linking him, but neither he nor Gidian responded.

I checked the study, but he wasn't there. I checked a few other places that I thought he might be, but still no Zander.

"Lun... Lunaah!" A young wolf around 20 or 21 startled me. I thought everyone was in bed. "What...what are you doing out here?" His eyes flashed black and then back to brown.
