According to the doctors, Felipe only had some bruises; the veterinary doctor did not know what had happened to him, and Emma just remained silent; at some point, while they examined him, she would have cried in the lonely and cold waiting room until her face was like a poem and she could not cry anymore because her tear ducts were dry.
Now she was sitting in the pristine empty room with the sounds of an old radio in the background and the vet and his assistant finishing some x” rays on her little cat when she heard the sound of a door opening; she didn’t raise her head to find out who it was, she was too mentally exhausted with all that had happened that she felt she barely had the strength to sit there, she knew she should have been on a plane out of the country with her meager savings but she would have simply done what her heart would have asked her to do and put herself above her fear to save an innocent life.
